A structured cabling system (SCS) is a collection of connectivity devices that are joined together via cabling. The cabling can consist of a variety of cables from copper to fibre optic. The most common types are Unshielded Twisted Pairs (UTP) or Cat5e but in more recent years the old Cat5 has been superceeded by Cat6, Cat7 and Fibre Optic. The cabling is a way of transmitting data around or between buildings.
